Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Advanced Legal Research and Writing
This seminar instructs students in modern practice strategies, with a focus on employing digital-age research and writing tools both ethically and effectively. Students are offered the opportunity to hone their skills across the entire lifecycle of a case—from trial court to appellate pleadings—using both traditional research platforms and AI-enabled tools, with guidance on how both toolsets can be used to complement, supplement, and correct each other. This course emphasizes and explores the ethical implications of AI, developing technical proficiencies and strong writing fundamentals, and engaging with the legal and professional responsibilities surrounding emerging technologies. Major assignments would mirror key stages in civil litigation, culminating in a substantial final written project. Students completing the course earn two experiential credits.
